ABSTRACT

The pain after peeling limits the universalization of this aesthetic procedure. Many patients with indication for such treatment deny the use of this therapy, fearing the pain immediately after the peeling. The effective control of the pain could became the a procedure safe, simple, cheap and easily reproductable more diffused among patients and professionals, especially by a topical therapy. The evaluation of the pain after the use of sodium aqueous heparin solution in spray (ALIMAX®), utilized for topical treatment in burns, and its comparison to the distilled water, utilized by the same way, was studied in 12 patients after the medium-depth peeling with trichloroacetic acid (TCA) 30% on face.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: PMMA is used as a permanent filler in the form of microspheres. There are several commercial applications; many of them are used indiscriminately. Objective: Histological evaluation (of the applied place and organs) after PMMA filling in rats. Methods: 60 Wistar rats were used; each received an application of 1 ml of PMMA (Meta-Crill®) in deep frame (near the occipital region). The euthanasia occurred in groups of 15 rats at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after application. Results: Presence of inflammatory infiltrate and fibrosis in the injected site, in addition to the reduced amount of PMMA in all samples. Foreign body reaction (FBR) granuloma type occurred in 3.3% of samples (2 mice). Statistical analysis was shown significant by Kruskal-Wallis. Conclusion: The PMMA used had a higher FBR and evident fibrosis in late samples, occurring FBR granuloma type. Although the PMMA seems safe, several complications can occur. Its use should be judicious, knowing that granulomas occur regardless of the technique.

ABSTRACT

Experimental studies veckoning vitamin A acid (all tmns retinoic acid 0.1 %) with the antioxidant action of vitamin E (tocophero1 acetate 0.2%) and vitamin C (coated ascorbic acid 0.2%) diluted 1:4 to vitamin A 0.02%, vitamin E 0.05% and vitamin C 0.05%, with efficacy in the vascular neoformation induction and in the cellular membrane stabilization, has been clinically used by us for the improvement of the skin and the skin necrosis regression after routine plastic sugeries. Patients after rhytidectomy, breast reduction and abdominoplasty with localized skin flap necrosis were submitted to daily intradermic injections for a period of 15 days, had their skin healed by these vitamin effects.

Results: Thirty-eight (82.6%) patients told that the improved in the first two weeks of treatment; 93.48% of the patients told that the scar height was reduced. In this study, we used tamoxifen citrate, an antineoplasic drug, to reduce the height of hypertrophic scars of burn marked patients.
