The encouraging support from the entire Society for the growth and international recognition of the Revista Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica (RBCP) has been notable. Over the last decade, RBCP has consolidated its editorial structure, maintaining it regularly and progressively adapting to the most rigorous criteria required to be indexed in the Medline, PubMed and PubMed Central databases.

There are differences between PubMed/Medline and PubMed Central1,2. Medline is the citation database for journals from the United States National Library of Medicine; Medline can be accessed directly or through PubMed, which in addition to Medline brings together other databases. PubMed Central is a free, open-access archive of complete articles (very similar to SciELO).

Our objective is to appear on all these bases. We have come close to this moment with the unconditional support of the current Board of Directors and we are particularly grateful for the support of previous administrations. Each one has real responsibility for the important steps that were taken to reach this moment. As a Magazine and Society, we act with maturity, adding certifications to enter this process with a strong chance of being approved.

There is only one way, now, to know what the future holds. And this response rests on the submission of RBCP content to the scrutiny of indexers. With absolute clarity and sincerity, this step is necessary, despite being tense. It is the chance for a real paradigm shift, for us to reach higher heights.

Authors and readers, continue collaborating with RBCP, access its content, and submit your studies to achieve this common objective, quality gains for all of us, retroactively and prospectively.
